New to JTB? Welcome!
Start Here
Trying somewhere new can feel a little intimidating. What class should you take? Do you need to know what you’re doing? What if everyone else already knows each other?
First things first: you don’t need to prepare to belong here.
JTB is a place to move, get stronger, slow down, try new things, take care of yourself, and connect with other people. You’ll find yoga and fitness classes, massage therapy, workshops and special experiences, private training, retreats, Yoga Teacher Training, and plenty of opportunities to explore what feels meaningful to you.
You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to be “in shape.” You don’t need experience. And you definitely don’t need to know all the lingo before you walk through the door.
Our classes bring together different bodies, backgrounds, abilities, personalities, and levels of experience. Our instructors will guide you, offer options, and encourage you to make choices that work for your body and your experience that day.
And while we’re proud of everything we offer, the people are really the heart of JTB. For more than 14 years, this community has been showing up to move together, laugh together, encourage each other, try hard things, rest when we need to, and form some pretty wonderful friendships along the way.
This is where you find your thing. And you just might find your people, too.
You’ll find all the answers to your questions about how to get started at JTB below. Be sure to also check out our FAQs page.
We’re so glad that you’re here.

Find Your Thing
Movement can be a lot of things.
It can be challenging, grounding, playful, powerful, quiet, sweaty, energizing, or simply a chance to spend an hour paying attention to yourself.
The trick is finding the kind of movement that makes you want to come back.
Our New Student Special gives you the freedom to explore. Try different class formats, meet our instructors, experience different teaching styles, and discover what you genuinely enjoy.
You might find one class you immediately love. You might surprise yourself. You might decide something isn’t for you and try something completely different the next day.
That’s the point.
There isn’t one right way to move at JTB. Come explore until you find your thing.
What class should I start with?
Every class at JTB welcomes new students, and you do not need previous experience to walk through the door.
That doesn’t mean every class feels the same. Some are slower and more spacious. Some focus on strength, stability, or mobility. Some move quickly. Some get your heart pumping. And some are loud, sweaty, and an excellent excuse to dance around a little.
If you’d like a gentler introduction, consider Elevate or Flow & Restore Yoga.
Interested in controlled, intentional movement? Explore JTB Barre or Mat Pilates.
Want to build strength or work up a sweat? Check out Strength, Tabata, Functional Fitness Fusion, Cardio Kickboxing, Power Yoga, or Balanced Flow.
Want movement that feels a little more like a party? 305 and Buti Yoga might be calling your name.
These aren’t levels, and you don’t need to work your way through them in order. They’re simply different experiences.
Don’t let the names intimidate you, either. You don’t have to be flexible to practice yoga. Barre doesn’t require dance experience. Our Pilates classes are mat based, not reformer classes. And some of our more athletic sounding formats can be surprisingly easy to personalize.
Our instructors will give you guidance and options along the way. You get to decide what works for you.
Take a look at our class descriptions and current schedule and choose the class that makes you curious.
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Leggings, shorts, joggers, tees, tanks, and sports bras are all welcome. You don’t need a special workout wardrobe to take a class at JTB.
For Yoga, Barre, Pilates and Buti Yoga, plan to practice barefoot or in sticky socks.
For Strength, 305, Tabata, Cardio Kickboxing, and other fitness formats, wear clean indoor sneakers.
Please bring your workout shoes with you and change into them once you’re inside. Keeping outdoor shoes off the studio floor helps us keep the space clean for everyone, especially for classes practiced barefoot.
What do I bring?
Bring a yoga mat if you have one. We have extras available and mats for purchase if you need one.
Bring a water bottle, especially for our more active classes.
If you have favorite blocks, straps, or other props, you’re welcome to bring them, but you don’t need to purchase anything special before your first class. We have the equipment and props you’ll need at the studio for your first class or your fiftieth class.
Most importantly, bring yourself.
You don’t need to arrive knowing what you’re doing. You don’t need to keep up with anyone else. You don’t need to prove that you’re strong, flexible, coordinated, or experienced enough to be here.
Show up. Give something a try. Pay attention to your experience. See what you want to come back to.
Before your first visit, take a look at our Policies & Etiquette so you’ll know what to expect when you arrive.

Make Massage Part of
Your Wellness Ritual
Massage can be a chance to slow down, receive care, reconnect with your body, and give some attention to the places that have been asking for it.
Some people come to massage because they want to relax. Others are looking for focused work on areas of tension or discomfort, support alongside an active lifestyle, or simply dedicated time when they don’t have to do anything for anyone else.
At JTB, every massage is personalized to you.
Your massage therapist will talk with you about what brings you in, what you’re experiencing in your body, what kind of pressure and approach you prefer, and what you’d like from your session. From there, we’ll create a massage that reflects your goals and preferences that day.
And those things can change from visit to visit.
Experience You Can Trust
Massage has been at the heart of JTB for years, and we’re incredibly proud of the reputation we’ve built.
JTB founder Jessica Bridge is a multiple time Best of Central Mass winner for Best Massage Therapist, and our massage practice has earned hundreds of positive reviews from clients who have trusted us with their care over the years.
That experience extends beyond Jessica’s own massage room. Every massage therapist who joins the JTB team works closely with Jessica through ongoing mentorship, collaboration, and professional development. Each therapist brings their own training, strengths, personality, and approach to the table, while sharing the same commitment to thoughtful, individualized, professional care.
We don’t expect every therapist to massage exactly the same way. We do expect every JTB massage to reflect the standards that have earned our clients’ trust year after year.
Consistency Can Be Powerful
You don’t have to wait until your body is screaming for attention to book a massage.
For many of our clients, massage becomes a regular part of how they care for themselves. Having time intentionally set aside regularly can also give you and your therapist the opportunity to notice patterns, communicate about what is changing, and adapt your sessions over time.
If regular massage feels good in your life, our massage membership offers discounted pricing on monthly sessions and makes it easier to keep that time on your calendar.
Which Massage Is Right for You?
If you’re new to JTB massage, our 75 Minute Therapeutic Massage is a great place to begin.
Therapeutic massage doesn’t mean every session has to be intense. Your therapist may incorporate techniques associated with relaxation massage, deeper or more focused work, and other approaches within their training based on your preferences and goals.
Want more time? A 90 Minute Therapeutic Massage allows additional time for a full body session, focused attention to particular areas, or simply a little more time to settle in.
You can also explore available enhancements such as Himalayan Salt Stones, massage cupping, or CBD when they’re appropriate for you and offered by your therapist.
Not sure what to choose? You don’t need to figure everything out before you arrive. Your massage therapist can talk through your options with you.
What to Expect and What to Wear
Your comfort, privacy, and consent matter throughout your entire appointment.
Before your massage begins, your therapist will talk with you about the session and give you privacy to prepare.
Massage is commonly performed with clothing removed beneath the draping, but you decide what clothing you are comfortable removing. You are always welcome to leave underwear or other clothing on. You don’t need to explain or justify that choice.
During your massage, professional draping is used so that only the area currently being worked is uncovered. Your therapist can work around clothing and adjust techniques as needed.
Your choices don’t end once the massage begins, either.
You can ask for more or less pressure. You can ask your therapist to avoid an area. You can change your mind about something you previously agreed to. You can ask questions. You can request more conversation, less conversation, a different position, another blanket, or an adjustment to your session.
This is your body and your massage. Communication is always welcome.
Your Time
There is no particular way you’re supposed to experience massage.
You might deeply relax. You might notice how much tension you’ve been carrying. You might spend the whole session chatting with your therapist. You might fall asleep. You might simply enjoy having an hour where nothing else requires your attention.
Our job is to create a professional, thoughtful environment where you can receive skilled care and have an experience that feels right for you.
Please remember that JTB has a 24 hour cancellation policy for massage appointments.
