Hey there, future teacher (or deep-diver)!

If you’re feeling the nudge to sign up for a 200-hour yoga teacher training, this guide is for you. Whether you’re here to teach, learn, heal, or grow, there are a few things I think you should know before you say yes to the journey.

Here are 5 honest, empowering truths that will help you say yes (or not yet) with confidence.

1. You don’t have to want to teach to belong here.

Some people join YTT because they’re ready to lead a class. Others come because they want to deepen their own practice or understand yoga beyond the poses. There is no right reason. If you feel drawn to this, trust the pull. You’re allowed to sign up just because it feels like something your soul is craving.

2. It will stretch you (in all the ways).

YTT is about way more than learning how to cue downward dog. You’ll move your body, sure, but you’ll also move through layers of self-inquiry, limiting beliefs, energetic shifts, and new ideas. It’s uncomfortable sometimes. But it’s also liberating. The best kind of growth always is.

3. You’re not expected to be flexible (physically or otherwise).

You don’t need to touch your toes. You don’t need the perfect leggings or a super consistent practice. You need curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn. This training is about meeting yourself where you are and showing up from that place again and again.

4. The community will change you.

There is something sacred about being in a room full of people who are willing to do the work. You’ll be inspired. Challenged. Supported. Seen. Your classmates will become your mirrors, your hype squad, your soft place to land. This container is as much about connection as it is about curriculum.

5. You don’t need to feel ready.

Read that again. You don’t need to feel ready.

You just need to feel called.

The truth is, most people feel unsure when they start. But if something in you lights up at the idea of spending your weekends learning yoga, moving your body, asking big questions, and finding your voice—that’s enough.

So now what?

Take a breath.

Take your time.

And when you’re ready (even if you don’t feel ready), you know where to find us.
